Dear Friend of the Detroit Interfaith Outreach Network (DION),
We are entering our 8th year of existence as an interfaith networking organization that is focused on the following, as our mission statement says:
“..to build a community through interfaith collaboration to promote unity, integrity, respect, education, and the successful development of our Metro Detroit youth and family.”
Working together with other organizations, we offer programs that help educate, inspire, uplift Detroit and improve conditions of life in this great city. Through our interfaith programs , such as the annual Interfaith Picnic on Belle Isle – Bringing Suburbs and City Together, we have helped forge new connections between people of many different faiths and cultures, bringing about greater understanding and respect among the people of our area. Our quarterly Interfaith Services and Potlucks, our Literacy Tutoring in DPSC schools, clothing and books drives, and other programs are quite popular We have just been selected by the Superintendent’s Office to be the Faithbased Community Partner of Central High School and have just started a successful monthly drive of hygiene supplies for these students. This summer we are working with Common Word Alliance on Harold St. in Hamtramck to help develop their community gardens, geared to teach the students and parents in the neighborhood about gardening and healthy lifestyles.
Yet there is much work to be done and we are appealing to you for your continued support. While we are deeply appreciative of the many different ways people contribute to DION success, we have come to realize that we need a firm financial basis to be able to sustain this work and expand our efforts. Now that we are a 501(c)3, your contributions can be considered tax-deductible.
